Ghost Of Yotei’s Release Date Has Been Revealed

Your tale of revenge begins in October

PlayStation has revealed via a blog post that Ghost of Yotei will release on October 2, 2025 exclusively for the PS5.

Alongside the release date news, a new trailer has also made its way online to showcase a little more about the game – with a focus on characters, narrative and even a gnarly mechanic where Atsu seems to jump back in time to her younger self:

From the trailer description:

Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.

The crazy stinger at the end of the trailer is what appears to be a new mechanic for the game, with Atsu appearing to jump back to an earlier time as her child self – seeing the environment as it was back then. What impact this has on the game is anyone’s guess, seeing as the appearance in this trailer lasts a total of 4 seconds and offers zero context.

It looks to be a fitting sequel to the incredible Ghost of Tsushima, with every new reveal hitting all new levels of hype. Hopefully legends mode returns again. Easily one of the most surprising PvE offerings I have ever experienced. Keep an eye out for more details – especially to explain that time jump gimmick – as we edge closer to October.
