God Of War Ragnarök Gets An Excellent Story Trailer And A Limited-Edition DualSense Controller

Ragnarök is almost upon us

A new story trailer for God of War Ragnarök has dropped during this morning’s PlayStation State of Play, alongside the announcement of a limited-edition DualSense controller.

Holy shit. The PlayStation State of Play wrapped things up with an incredible story trailer for Ragnarök that’s managed to push my hype for this game to an entirely new level. There are so many notable moments in this trailer that it’s hard for me to focus. Being a story trailer, this three-minute look at the game sets us up for the narrative that will be told in this anticipated sequel. We see Kratos freeing the Norse god of war Tyr, an ominous stranger approaching the home of our protagonists, and an incredible moment with Atreus seemingly working with Skoll and Hati, the wolves representing the sun and moon, as he fires an arrow that dissipates a lunar eclipse.

On a gameplay level, we see Kratos and Atreus visiting several distinct locations across the nine explorable realms. Better still, we see the father and son duo taking on various savage enemies, with Kratos using old and new tricks to defeat them. The biggest moment was saved for the finish, as we briefly see Kratos go head-to-head with the god of thunder, Thor. The Leviathan Axe clashes with Mjollnir…that is all.

While the trailer was undoubtedly the main event, we also got a cheeky surprise in the form of a limited-edition DualSense controller. Releasing side-by-side with the game on November 9, the Ragnarök controller has a blue and white two-tone, with two wolf insignias on the touchpad representing Kratos and Atreus. We don’t have any pricing information just yet, but the PlayStation Blog confirms that pre-orders for the controller will go live on September 27.

God of War Ragnarök will release on PS5 and PS4 on November 9.
