According to a developer at Santa Monica Studio, God of War Ragnarok is still set to release on PS4 and PS5 this year.
On the four-year anniversary of God of War‘s release, Creative Director Cory Barlog stated that the team at Santa Monica were hard at work on the highly-anticipated sequel, but didn’t comment on the release date.
4 years ago, God of War (2018) released! We’re grateful to all of you who joined Kratos and Atreus on their journey, and we’re so proud of the team who worked to bring it to life.
While we’re not ready to share an update about what comes next, here’s a quick message from Cory! pic.twitter.com/Z5PHpKQppY

Following this, an inquisitive fan reached out to Animation Director Bruno Velazquez to get confirmation that the game is still on track, to which Velazquez replied “Ragnarok is coming this year.” Now, this Tweet doesn’t hint at a specific release date, nor does it outright confirm that Ragnarok won’t be pushed back into 2023, but it does give us some insight into the game’s ongoing development.
Ragnorok is coming this year.

Hopefully, we see more from Ragnarok soon, especially considering that the last trailer we got was back in September of last year during the PlayStation Showcase 2021.
