The latest free update for God of War Ragnarök has gone live, adding a much-needed photo mode to the game.
Similar to God of War (2018), Ragnarök released on November 9 without a photo mode, a feature that’s all but expected for most AAA games nowadays. Luckily, snapping shots of Kratos and Atreus as they tear apart Draugr is now possible, as developer Santa Monica Studio has added a robust photo mode to the game.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Ragnarök’s photo mode includes several features to help you frame and capture moments during gameplay. The features include:
- Apply expressions to the following characters in a scene: Kratos, Atreus, Freya, Brok, Sindri, Tyr, Angrboda, Thor, and Thrúd
- Hide main or side characters in a scene.
- Adjust camera controls with field of view, focal length, camera roll
- Adjust shutter controls with depth of field, focus distance and F-Stop
- Adjust brightness and filters with film grain, exposure and filter intensity, with finer controls for vibrance and saturation
- Apply vignettes, borders, and logos
In our review, we said that “Ragnarök chooses iteration over innovation, but continues to operate in a league of its own in terms of its nuanced gameplay and otherworldly technical execution. This is the new posterchild for what the PS5 is capable of, and the passionate product of a development outfit that can seemingly do no wrong.” We scored the game a 9.
