It’s also said that the crater’s dinosaurs can adapt to any threat through a newly discovered form of evolution, and can be quite territorial. Though you’ll be tested at every turn, worry not! ADAPT TO SURVIVE
Because Un’Goro houses so many competing predators in one biome, it’s hard to imagine any one group reigning supreme . . . but over time, the dinosaurs have learned to control and accelerate evolution, resulting in the ability to adapt to threats on the fly. Brand-new to Hearthstone, Adapt is a keyword that lets you choose a upgrade for your minion—such as Taunt, Divine Shield, or +3 Attack—from a pool of three options, similar to Discover. Some spells will also trigger minion adaptation, so don’t let your guard down!
A LEGENDARY QUEST
Journey to Un’Goro also introduces a new type of legendary card to Hearthstone: Quests. Quests will always be available in your opening hand, and, once played, will sit around your hero portrait until a trigger condition occurs, like secrets (though in this case, your opponent knows exactly which quest you are on!). Quests have a set of requirements, such as “Summon 7 Deathrattle minions”—which, upon completion, will reward players with a card of monstrous power!
RING IN THE YEAR OF THE MAMMOTH
Journey to Un’Goro marks the end of the Year of the Kraken and the beginning of the new Hearthstone Year: The Year of the Mammoth! Each new Hearthstone Year ushers in a fresh Standard format: a new card set rotation that will drastically change the meta, leading to more exploration and variety in deck types, and ultimately a more fun and dynamic gameplay experience. Once the Year of the Mammoth officially begins with Journey to Un’Goro, the following card sets will leave Standard: Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, and League of Explorers. Whether players prefer to duel in Standard or Wild, they can look forward to major esports competitions in both formats this year!
