While World of Warcraft: Midnight is not releasing until March next year, players still in the heat of World of Warcraft: The War Within can enjoy its most anticipated feature right now as part of the 11.2.7 content update – titled The Warning.
Sure sure, it’s supposed to be the Midnight prologue, kicking off the next story beat that will direct people towards what comes next in the WorldSoul Saga – but you know, I know, we ALL KNOW what people are logging in for.
They wanna start picking out rugs and décor baby.
To get you up to speed on setting up your new digs, Blizzard has even dropped an instructional video on how to be a homeowner – because the concept is alien to many in the real world:
It’s not a small implementation either, this is housing as players should expect it. Not a small scale shack that will become brilliant when the next expansion goes live.
You pick your neighbourhood, your plot and start to make yourself at home – following the full breadth of the onboarding experience within the game:
Upon logging into the latest update, players will receive a quest to kick off the introduction to the housing system, including obtaining their first home in one of the two faction neighbourhoods, the first of two houses they’ll be able to get for their warband (one for each faction neighbourhood). They’ll be able to decorate with hundreds of décor items they’ll receive as part of an initial welcome package. Also included will be décor tied to completed quests and achievements from current and previous expansions that will be retroactively rewarded to players.
A great starting point. And the system will only be expanded as time marches on – with an official statement making it clear that both current AND legacy content are going to get a big ol’ polish as time goes on:
Additionally, players will be able to earn more items as WoW itself is retrofitted with housing rewards in current and legacy content including quests, faction and reputation vendors, dungeons, raids, special events and crafting professions.

It is worth mentioning that this is an early-access period for the housing feature, available to those that have already pre-purchased World of Warcraft: Midnight – so if you haven’t opening your wallet, you won’t be receiving the keys to your new place any time soon. If you were on the fence (and unable to build one yet in-game) you can always take a look at the Housing spotlight on the Midnight product page, and see if setting down your roots is the WoW experience you have been waiting for.
Otherwise, you can always wait for the full release of Midnight on March 3rd, 2026 and attend your friends housewarming parties. Maybe bring a nice potted plant to liven up the space.
