Horizon Zero Dawn – The Magic Behind The Audio Design

Serious eargasm

Sony has just shared a new video, which delves into the importance of sound in Horizon Zero Dawn and the ways in which the game uses the Platinum Wireless Headset’s 3D audio technology.

Featuring the mighty fine audio team from Guerilla Games, Audio Lead Bastian Seelbach, Sound Designer Pinar Temiz, and Senior Sound Designer and Music Supervisor Lucas van Tol, get a tantalizing glimpse into the world of audio creation and how they created the remarkable 3D audio and sound in Horizon Zero Dawn.. Seriously, as somebody who has dabbled in sound design, I had a serious ear boner.
Sony & Guerilla have also taken to the PlayStation Blog to give further insight into the team’s audio creation process, the challenges they face and the creative decisions they’ve made.

Bleeding cash? The Platinum Wireless Headset puts the player at the centre of gaming worlds. With enhanced 7.1 virtual surround sound in all PlayStation 4 games and a 3D audio mode that gives precision sound from every direction in compatible games, this headset lets you experience a whole new dimension of audio. The headset is available at all major retailers for around $259.95 AUD.

Set in icy territories to the north, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is the next chapter in Aloy’s journey. It adds a new area to explore, new mysteries to uncover and new, highly lethal machines to take on. Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is now available to pre-order from PlayStation Store, with an exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn avatar available for players who pre-order the expansion. Members of PlayStation Plus will also receive a discounted price with 10% off.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds will be available on 7 November 2017.
