CGI is pretty impressive nowadays. Know what is even more impressive? Puppets.
A surprising piece of media hit the internet today, and I can safely say it was the last thing I would have expected – the incredible story of Arthas, the crown prince from Warcraft III, and his dramatic fall to become the intensely villainous Lich King.
Performed by a group of Taiwanese puppeteers, we see all the iconic moments that defined the tragedy of Arthas Menethil:
It is amazing to see the creativity across the Warcraft universe and community.

It is every bit as epic as I remembered, but with the added awe of how spectacularly meticulous the production must have been.
The TWworldofwarcraft YouTube has a magnificent peek behind the scenes, with a stellar featurette showing some of the effort involved:
The entire project just has me in awe – and hungry for more of this storytelling. Maybe we could get some iconic moments from other blockbusters like God of War or The Last of Us?
Think puppets have a future replacing in-game cutscenes? Or is this just an epic one-off? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
