June’s PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

Spies, space and sparring

The PlayStation Plus service is at its best when it offers up a variety of experiences. In May we got just that, with Wreckfest, Battlefield V and Stranded Deep rounding out an action-heavy line-up, but one with a good amount of variation. Well, as announced on the PlayStation Blog, it looks like June will be yet another mixed bag month, as PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download and play Operation: Tango (PS5), Star Wars: Squadrons and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown from June 1.

One of two games from this month releasing on June 1, Operation: Tango is a two-player cooperative title that throws you into the world of espionage and danger. Requiring teamwork, as well as a mic, one player will take on the role of the agent in the field, while the other acts as the hacker, the person in the chair who gathers info and influences the world that the agent is in. With a cool aesthetic and an interesting premise, Operation: Tango looks like it could be an absolute blast to play with a friend, just make sure you choose someone you work well with, the fate of the world is at stake after all. It’s important to note that Operation: Tango will be available for PS5 users only.

The second game to be making its debut on PS Plus this month is Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. A remake of the beloved Sega fighting game that originally released in 2006, Ultimate Showdown has been created by Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and is said to be accessible to newcomers while also remaining faithful to long-time fans of the series. Seeing as though this a big return for the franchise, as well as being a PlayStation console exclusive, it only makes sense for Virtua Fighter to stick around a little longer than the other two games. Ultimate Showdown will be available from June 1 through to August 2.

Load your Proton Torpedoes and check on your Astro Mech, we’re taking to space for a scrap. A hard-as-nails space dogfighting game, Squadrons is a skill-based title that doesn’t just provide the goods when it comes to gameplay, but it’s also faithful to Star Wars in every way. The mechanics are exceptional and it plays like a dream, though it does have a slight lack of game modes (we gave it a 7.5), but if you’re a fan of Star Wars and/or flight combat games, you’ll have a blast with Squadrons.

As always, make sure that you’ve downloaded Wreckfest, Battlefield V and Stranded Deep by May 31 before they leave the service. If you don’t have the space to download them, remember that you can add them to your library to download at a later date.

Which game are you most excited about this month? What games would you like to see in July? Let us know.
