Mario Strikers: Battle League Football’s New Overview Trailer Shows Off Team Tackles And More

Super Smash Soccer

As we inch closer to the game’s release date on June 10th, Nintendo has dropped a lengthy new overview trailer for Mario Strikers: Battle League Football that explains some of its new mechanics and additions to the series’ staple gameplay.

Heading up the trailer is a look at Team Tackles, a new bit of tactical football gameplay that sees players literally tackle their teammates – only instead of causing them to stumble or fall it gives them an extra boost of speed in order to move across the pitch quickly or tackle opponents with even greater force.

Predictably, the action looks very much like classic Strikers with no rules or penalties and the constant threat of an electric fence to keep things chaotic on the pitch.

Adding to the mayhem are Hyper Strikes, devastating special moves that can be charged up and activated after picking up a special Strike Orb when it appears on the pitch – not unlike Super Smash Bros’ Smash Balls.

The overview trailer also touches briefly on each character’s unique stats and the gear they’ll be able to equip as well as local play and online play with ranked Strikers Clubs. The whole thing is worth a watch if you’re keen to get on the pitch next month so check it out below:
