Mortal Kombat’s Original Red Ninja Returns In An All New MK1 Gameplay Trailer

The original Error Macro

Mortal Kombat 1 keeps on with the post-release content, with the next fighter from the MK! Kombat Pack being none other than the fabled Easter-egg-turned-actual-character Ermac.

After having already appeared within the narrative for the game – including serving as a mid-game boss fight – the red soul-meany is finally stepping into the roster proper, and he brought some spectral mates along too:

In a strange twist, the usual lime-green of his soul magic seems to have been a little subdued to a more greeny blue magic tint. But that hardly matters when he is summoning spearmen and turning folks into meatballs.

A neat twist for this incarnation of Ermac is that his amalgam of souls is predominantly driven by the force of King Jerrod, deceased husband of Sindel and the original leader of the Edenian people. This is a cool factoid if only because such a character was often only a mention in greater MK lore, often suffering brutal offscreen murders and betrayals depending on timeline.

It is also a relief to see that the gear for my red ninja lad includes an iconic mask – because no ninja is truly complete without one.

That, and his weird alien face was squicking me out. Ick.

Are you ready to throw souls and YEET people with your mind? Did you ever fight Ermac in the original Mortal Kombat arcade game? If yes, Stop lying and let us know about it in the comments or on social media.
