Karazhan, long a potent nexus of arcane energies, is about to become the focal point of a very different kind of cosmic force. The wizard Medivh has used every bit of magic at his disposal to set up the most lavish and extravagant party of all time, and your name is on the guest list alongside the crème de la crème of Azeroth and beyond! With such an eclectic mix of attendees, it’s guaranteed that this party will be out of this world.
But as you groove to the music and let the sights dazzle you, beware; one night in Karazhan, and even tough guys tumble. Keep your decks straight, your wits sharp, and above all, stay alive!
It’s that time again! Blizzard’s Warcraft-themed online card game Hearthstone is set to get another Adventure, complete with 45 new cards! In true Hearthstone fashion, One Night In Karazhan will feature four wings with many different…oh, you’re lost. I can tell. Don’t worry, questions are what I’m here for. Fire away?
Hi.
Hi.
So, this is a new expansion?
Not exactly. Hearthstone adds cards through Expansions like The Grand Tournament or the recently released Whispers of the Old Gods, and through single-player Adventures like The League of Explorers and Blackrock Mountain. In the former, you buy booster packs to collect the cards much like physical card games like Magic: The Gathering. As such, these usually contain more cards than the latter. Adventures, on the other hand, are what some would call single-player campaigns that gives you the cards for progressing through each part of the Adventure. They’re usually cards that become heavily used, so it’s worth the investment. Best of all, these Adventures generally don’t play like your average game with each battle having its own gimmick. They’re a ton of fun! Adventures also offer Class Challenges, which give you a pre-built deck for each class and a boss to fight!
Different parts?
Each Adventure has around four Wings, each containing about three mini-bosses before a big bad at the end of the wing. Adventures are usually released one wing at a time, one week after the other until we’ve got it all. How many are in One Night In Karazhan? Four! You can count those in a fist!
What’s Karazhan, anyway?
To put things simply, Karazhan is a raid in World of Warcraft. There’s a bunch of lore involved, but I’m sure you don’t care enough for me to tell you.
You don’t know the lore.
…no.
Pff, and you call yourself a journalist?
I actually don’t.
Alright, Mr. Literal. How much is this adventure gonna cost me?
That’s entirely up to you!
Wat.
One Night In Karazhan is shaking things up in terms of payment this time. You can pay for each of four wings with either real money or in-game gold. However, Blizzard will offer discounts if you’re buying them one at a time so you’re not paying through the nose. Nevertheless, the bundle of wings will cost $19.99 USD and that method will net you each wing as they arrive. It’s like a Season Pass, but not shit. If you buy the expansion in the first week, you’ll get an exclusive card back.
Sick burn.
Thanks.
When does it arrive?
11th of August, which is two weeks away. To remain up-to-date on cardlists and the like, check out Hearthpwn.com‘s guide to the Adventure.
How’s being a Priest main working out?
Shut up.
