It has been no surprise that the next Overwatch 2 hero was of the Support persuasion, and had the codename “Aqua” – but over the last few days we have been given proper insight into the new fella and his splash zone.
Meet Wuyang, a student at Wuxing University – a place where the curriculum deals with different elements. Wuyang’s parents and sister were accepted into Fire College, which specializes in martial arts, but our bloke instead made use of water-based manipulation to save the day against some rogue omnic baddies.
Now Wuyang is bringing his watery arsenal to the fields of Overwatch, to heal and protect friends – while sloshing enemies and leaving them feeling sodden.
Our waterbender definitely has a plethora or super neato fluid-based abilities, including:
- A water orb shooting staff, that can steer the blobs while they are airborne
- A healing stream of water to passively heal a teammate, or can be boosted with attention from Wuyang
- Knockback wave that increases healing for friends, and shoves enemies back
- WATER-RIDING
- A literal bubble that can be placed on an ally to protect them, before it bursts to heal them – AND – knock down any nearby goons
It is an absurdly fun bit of kit, full of great water effects and dynamically fluid flavour. Considering the recent product-driven collaborations with the Overwatch brand I can only hope that I can get a Fanta-flavoured Wuyang at some point in the future.

An amazing new addition to the roster, even if I now live in dread at the thought of a splash-bubbled Reinhardt zooming into my team to knock me down twice.
Looks like I better put on my water-wings and learn some hydromancy of my own.
