Overwatch 2 Reveals Illari, The Solar Powered Support Ahead Of Invasion

Never stare directly at the sun

People craving a new support experience in Overwatch 2 have been thusly rewarded this day, with a rapid look at the new Peruvian lady wielding a giant sun-beam-cannon-sword.

Her name is Illari, and she is positively radiant:

The trailer doesn’t just introduce this retina-blasting heroine – it also brings forth the true meat and potatoes of this massive update, showcasing what awaits us when Invasion drops this week.

PvE Invasion Story Missions finally make their debut, giving Overwatch players the chance to truly experience some narrative content within the game. While they may not represent what was shown so long ago, they do still promise to be a girthy experience for people who want to jump out of competitive matchmaking and mash some literal bots instead.

And for people who still want the blood of their enemies, the new Flashpoint game mode will surely sate that desire. A new point capture experience that features a moving control point across much bigger maps – it should shake up the established formula enough to feel fresh. The real draw of this mode is the amazing new maps that come with it – including a deadset incredible Australian map called New Junk City.

It is a terrifically swollen update, just take a look at it’s release roadmap:

Invasion is chock full of stuff to do – for every player. I personally can’t wait to dip my toe into the Hero Mastery challenges, obstacle courses that will put your game sense to the test as you compete as a specific hero. It even has a leaderboard to hammer home how good (or terrible) you may be!

Overwatch 2: Invasion comes out on August 11 – see you in the war against the omnics!
