Random Event Goer Fistfights An Airship In Armored Core 6, Becomes A Legend

Behold, the ‘Fireworks of Shibuya’ legend

I know very little about the Armored Core franchise. This means that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon media often sparks wonder and joy as I experience things that other fans of the series may long have considered banal and mundane.

But throwing your gun away to punch a giant airship to death? Is this a normal thing?

PlayStation recently hosted their Play!Play!Play! event in Japan, exciting attendees with an opportunity to not only feast their eyes on the latest Armored Core title, but to enter into a draw to play it.

And when they picked that lucky fan from the crowd, they clearly had no idea who they were dealing with – because this gamer ran a clinic on how to absolutely style upon a boss; by way of fisticuffs.

Enter: Fireworks of Shibuya.

Who is this maverick renegade? Well, his online handle is “Fireworks” and he’s from Shibuya. According to audience members, he is an Armored Core fanatic and clearly had the skills to showcase this epic boss takedown. With only one minute to prep his mech, he then charged into battle:

  • Blasting through ground forces with dual machine guns
  • Almost ran them dry
  • Boosted up to the airborne boss
  • Threw his guns away
  • Wailed on the cockpit of the airship with his robot fists until it exploded
  • Returned to the ground to clean up any stragglers, with remaining missiles and  his goddamn fists

The absolutely peak human may have been out of bullets, but he was never out of options. This clip transcended language and even gaming knowledge – because I understand neither Japanese nor Armored Core – leaving me positively frothing at how truly epic the whole thing was.

This godly gamer is now revered amongst his Armored Core peers, and likely many other communities – with some even drawing epic fanart to commemorate the occasion.

It is truly a celebration of great gamer skill, and has resulted in some pretty thrilling marketing for Armored Core 6. I can’t wait to try punching stuff to death when it release later this month.

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon launches August 25 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

What do you think of this metal menace and his furious fists? Do you aspire to be the next Armored Core legend? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
