A tweet from the official Redfall twitter has broken the news to all excited Xbox fans that they should not expect 60 frames per second when the game launches this May, carefully pointing out that a performance mode will be rolled out as part of a future update for the title.
They are careful to point out that this is not a restriction on one specific Xbox platform, but rather across both the X|S hardware options:
Redfall is launching on Xbox consoles with Quality mode only:
Xbox Series X: 4K 30 FPS
Xbox Series S: 1440p 30 FPS
60 FPS Performance mode will be added via game update at a later date. pic.twitter.com/NLaGsMbwdW— Redfall (@playRedfall) April 12, 2023
The reception? Not warm. Given the fact that the game was initially delayed from it’s former 2022 release date, many are questioning what the extra development time was used for, if not to sort out troubling little details like these. At least expectations are being set, rather than allowing consumers to discover it upon release.
Redfall is scheduled to release on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 2.
