To celebrate four years since launch, Housemarque has officially updated its rogue-like shooter Returnal with a new PS5 Pro coat of paint today.
As announced on social media, the developers confirmed the new PS5 Pro Enhanced patch will improve Returnal’s pixel density by up to 2.5 times what was originally achieved on the base PS5. That means way more detail for those that own a PS5 Pro and a good TV to match. What the patch includes beyond that, such as extra performance modes or higher framerates, for now remains a mystery.

Housemarque are currently developing their next big thing, Saros. Announced during February’s State of Play earlier this year with a banger of a cinematic trailer. We don’t have much info on this follow up beyond being a third-person shooter with some new, bold ideas under Rahul Kohli’s skin, but we do know it’s currently slated to release in 2026. It’s nice, though, that they haven’t forgotten Returnal in the process of looking ahead to the future.
Will you be playing Returnal again now that it’s been updated for PS5 Pro? Is Saros on your most anticipated list? Let us know what you think in the comments below or on any of our socials.
