An announcement announcing the announcement

And just like that, we’ve got confirmation.

Following on from yesterday’s report from Bloomberg, speculating that a Grand Theft Auto announcement was imminent, developer Rockstar has released a statement, confirming that the first trailer for the next game in the GTA series will debut in early December.

The statement reads, “In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution. We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”

I’ve just checked my watch and it’s been ten whole years since the release of GTA V, which has me thinking about my own mortality. It’s also given the many fans of the series a long time to speculate about what the GTA VI will be, and gather an ungodly amount of hype for whatever it turns out to be.

Will you be frantically refreshing every social media page come December 1? What would you like out of GTA VI? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
