GSC Game World has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has once again been delayed but will finally release on September 5, 2024, on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass.
The news was shared via a statement made on the game’s Twitter/X account, which said that the delay from Q1 2024 to September was because of “technical imperfections that hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for.” A Final Release Date Announcement trailer was shared alongside the news.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has had a troubled development cycle, being hit with multiple delays and having to deal with the extreme and unimaginable challenges brought on by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. An interview in January 2023 with Wired highlighted just how hard things have been for the studio. The fact the game is still releasing seems like a miracle in itself.
