Skydance New Media has announced a partnership with Lucasfilm Games to develop a narrative-driven Star Wars title.
Skydance New Media is a new studio led by industry veteran Amy Hennig, the former Creative Director and Writer for the first three Uncharted games. Hennig has previous experience working with the Star Wars property, leaving Naughty Dog for Visceral Games to work on Project Ragtag, a Star Wars title that was eventually cancelled.
The announcement made on the Star Wars website confirms that this new project is an action-adventure that features an original story, set in the Star Wars universe.
Hennig had this to say as part of the announcement:
“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” said Hennig, president, Skydance New Media. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure,” said Douglas Reilly, vice president, Lucasfilm Games. “Their vision for making narrative driven and engaging interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

This is the second game announcement to come from Skydance who, back in October of last year, revealed that they are working on a narrative-driven game in the Marvel universe. Seeing as though we haven’t heard anything more about the unnamed Marvel game, it’s safe to say that Skydance’s Star Wars project will be in the oven for some time before we see or hear any more details.
