SEGA continues their push into the mobile space by way of a proper title announcement today, showing off Sonic Rumble – a mobile-only, 32-player multiplayer ‘elimination style’ action game.
Yeah, you’d be forgiven for thinking that sounds a lot like Fall Guys, sans the mobile-only bit, but the gameplay trailer does showcase a ton of Sonic-styled stage gimmicks and tracks to really make it feel Hedgehog-coded.
On your mark, get set...PLAY! Get ready to race in the all-new Sonic Rumble, a speedy, 32-person mobile royale set in a cheery toy world created by Dr. Eggman!

Of course, SEGA has been paving the way for a big mobile-push after their acquisition of Rovio in recent years – but the only fruit of that so far was the Angry Birds crossover event.
Sonic Rumble represents a proper platform debut, and it’s a pretty curious one. From the video description:
On your mark, get set…PLAY! Get ready to race in the all-new Sonic Rumble! Jump into a speedy, 32-person mobile royale set in a cheery toy world created by Dr. Eggman. Play as some of your favorite characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe complete with customization to create your perfect avatar as you dive into action-packed gameplay.
Of course, a big question would be directed towards platform parity – we are seeing bigger mobile titles natively released on the PC platform, and given the familiarity of this particular genre might we see it make a similar move? Gotta fill those 32 player slots somehow.
For now (if your mobile device is up to the task) you can always opt in to the beta test to see what the hubbub is all about – via the Sonic Rumble Closed Beta opt-in available here.
