Sonic is on a roll (heh) of late, with far more hits than misses – and Summer Game Fest has served up another massive win with the beautifully classic-styled Sonic Superstars:
This side-scrolling adventure looks amazing, with the classic cast of old-school Sonic and friends treading new ground and even utilising cool original abilities to get around. It’s the other end of the blue hedgehog spectrum from something like Sonic Frontiers, with a far more familiar format – a different delicious taste that people still appreciate.
Four player co-op also looks to be every bit the madcap mayhem you would expect, and is absolutely a new experience for Sonic fans who might have some spare couch positions open. We have no release date yet, but a nebulous promise of “Fall 2023” in the US tells us that we won’t need to wait long.
Also, don’t think I didn’t notice Fang the Sniper lurking in the trailer. What is his deal this time around?
Guess we will find out closer to “Fall 2023”.
