Sony Announces Free Online Multiplayer Weekend For All PS4 And PS5 Gamers

The season of giving

Sometimes, Christmas miracles do happen. Over this next weekend, on December 18 and 19, gamers will be able to participate in free online multiplayer on all PS4 and PS5 games without having to pay for a PS Plus subscription. Clearly, Sony is getting in on the festive spirit.

This is certainly welcome news for anyone who has had their PS Plus subscriptions lapse or who have yet to sign up to one. This 48-hour window allows for the multiplayer modes on any PS4 or PS5 game to be played without having to pay. This means that PlayStation gamers around the world will get to enjoy playing with their friends as we enter the holiday season.

Since the beginning of the PS4 era, players have needed to pay for a PS Plus subscription in order to enjoy online multiplayer. In Australia, a 12-month PS Plus subscription costs $79.95. This free online multiplayer weekend will kick off at 12:01am on December 18, and finish at 11:59pm on December 19.

Harry's friends got sick of him talking about video games all the time, so he decided to express his passion for them online. When Harry isn't cosied up with a good fantasy novel, chances are he'll be grinding his way through a JRPG or obsessively completing a metroidvania.
