Streets Of Rage 4 DLC Includes New Characters And New Game Modes, Coming Later In 2021

More of a good thing

Streets of Rage 4 is getting new content in 2021 the game’s co-developers Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games have announced overnight. The DLC will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

There will be two DLC drops – one free and one paid, with the free DLC offering players a “brutal challenge” in the form of New Mania+ difficulty level, a detailed training system to help players master combos, and the ability to customise your character with new colour palette options. The paid DLC, titled Mr. X Nightmare will include three new characters (one being Estel Aguirre, which you can see in action in the below trailer) and a unique survival mode that will be revealed in due course. Mr. X Nightmare will also be getting new music from composer Tee Lopes, who has worked on Sonic ManiaLeague of Legends and more.

Furthermore, it was also revealed that Streets of Rage 4 has been downloaded more than 2.5 million times, and while these may not all have been traditional sales with the game available on Game Pass, it’s still an impressive feat.

Released last year, Streets of Rage 4 surprised everyone, including this long-time fan, with yours truly scoring it a 10 in my review, saying that “From start to finish, Streets of Rage 4 is a modern celebration of one of the best beat ’em up series of all time.” Seriously, if you haven’t played it, get on it.

No release date info has been given for either DLC releases, however at least we know it’s coming at some point in 2021.
