Get ready for a radical announcement that’s super gnarly dude. Ahem, I might have let myself get a little too ’90s then, but for good reason as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge just got announced and it looks sweet. The game will be a 4-player side-scrolling beat ’em up that looks to take inspiration from the Turtles In Time arcade game, just hopefully a little less punishing.
The game’s developer, Tribute Games, features talent that previously worked on Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game (which we gave a 7), so that alone has me excited. Atop this, it’s being published by Dotemu, the publisher behind the amazing Streets of Rage 4 (which we gave a 10), so there’s plenty of beat ’em up experience floating around the title.
The reveal trailer plays out like the opening to the cartoon, with the half-shelled brothers taking on a bunch of their foes, all to the sound of the original theme, performed by Mike Patton of Faith No More fame. In the trailer, we see Splinter and April O’Neil, hinting at possible playable characters, as well as villains like Baxter Stockman, Beebop, Rocksteady and, of course, Shredder. There’s also a snippet of gameplay shown off at the end of the trailer that shows the bros kicking the shell out of some Foot Clan soldiers and it looks mint.
We don’t have a date for Shredder’s Revenge yet, but we do know that it will be coming to PC and consoles when it does launch. Take a look at the trailer:
Are you excited as shell for this new TMNT game? What side character would you like to play as? Let us know.
