If you are similarly shocked that we have received three Sonic the Hedgehog films in less than a decade, consider raising that alert as we approach the distinct possibility of getting a fourth one before it is through.
That is because director Jeff Fowler has taken to social media to announce that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is now filming ahead of its 2027 release date:

Considering the blisteringly good response to the third Sonic film, there was little doubt that a fourth one would be coming – especially considering the blunt sequel bait that appeared at the end of the third entry.
With filming underway, it will leave plenty of time for the lion’s share of work to be done down the track – considering most of the franchise’ stars are humanoid CGI animals, with more to debut in this film.
Four films in a decade is crazy. More to the point, it’s great that the films have actually been quite good thus far. We’ve come a long way since those human teeth, that’s for sure.
