In 2019, the world was introduced to one very naughty goose. And now, an ACMI interactive exhibition aims to give new insight into the creative development of this feathered sensation.
Located in Fed Square, Melbourne, ACMI is Australia’s national museum of screen culture – so what better place to showcase the incredible process that gave birth to Untitled Goose Game.

Untitled Goose Game was one of those darling titles that embodied the brilliance of video games. Delivering untold chaos unto a small unsuspecting town, I have personally gifted the game to many a niece and a nephew as their first true foray into interactive media. So hearing that Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition is a very real thing tickles me greatly.
The interactive experience will give visitors a proper look into the Australian game development process – through a fun and interactive display that channels your inner goose.
The exhibition connects the game’s hilarious design to the history of slapstick, tracing its enduring popularity and comedic stylings back through a century of film and television.
⠀
Through colourful displays and comedy-focused curation, Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition keeps nothing under glass – designed with families in mind, it includes sound effect buttons, flipbooks and other playful displays. Those with specialist knowledge of videogames are invited to explore critical design details and gain insight into the game’s technical development through ACMI-made video content.
It sounds like a deadset banger of a time to take a young family to – much like the goose game itself. Or even an educational journey into the amazing game development scene taking place in our very sunburnt backyard.
Occurring between September 17 2024 and February 16 2025, it is entirely free to behold – so if you are a fan of Geese, or Games, make your way to Federation Square in Melbourne to drink in a little feathered chaos.
It’s likely the most fun you can have without physically being a very naughty goose.
