HBO has confirmed that The Last of Us television series has been renewed for a third season.
The first episode of season two won’t premiere for another few days, but that hasn’t stopped HBO from renewing the adaptation of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic narrative powerhouse. Speaking to Variety, series creator Craig Mazin mentioned that they would need “one or two more seasons” before reaching the narrative conclusion of The Last of Us Part II, so we may have a fourth season to look forward to as well.

With Part II being a colossal game that clocks in at around 20 hours of play time, there’s no surprise that season two wouldn’t be able to cover off everything. The real mystery at this point in time will be where season two leaves us and where this newly confirmed season three will kick off.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet because we haven’t even seen the first episode of season two. We here in Australia can watch the premiere on April 14 on HBO Max.
