The Last Of Us Part I Gets A 10-Minute Trailer Highlighting Gameplay And Features

The improvements are impressive

Naughty Dog has released a new walkthrough video for The Last of Us Part I that shows gameplay and the game’s new features.

The ten-minute trailer has the team at Naughty Dog detail the advancements that are being made to bring the first game to the same level as, or push further than the sequel. Using the PS5 hardware, Creative Director and Writer Shaun Escayg explains that Part I will be able to run at 4K 60fps while utilising HDR and haptic feedback to deliver an experience that matches the vision that the team originally had for the game.

Improved facial animations are also on show during the trailer, as well as the new transitions between cutscenes and gameplay that make the game more seamless. Some of the most noticeable changes on show are the improved lighting and environmental effects that give the gameplay a more realistic look and feel. As far as combat is concerned, the enemy AI has been overhauled and will be closer to what we saw in Part II, so encounters will feature smarter foes that talk and strategise.

The walkthrough details the additional modes that will be included in Part I, such as a permadeath and speedrun mode that change how you approach the game. Ellie and Joel will also have access to a whole range of new cosmetic items that allow you to change up their look. Lastly, the trailer confirms that the excellent accessibility options found within Part II will be making their way over to Part I, making it more accessible for everyone to enjoy.
