ASUS and Xbox have revealed two new gaming handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X.
The two new pieces of handheld hardware, created by ASUS in collaboration with Xbox, aim to provide a seamless Xbox experience on the go. While similar to the existing ROG Ally units, the ROG Xbox Ally will feature a completely new user interface that closely resembles the experience found on the Series X|S. Both handhelds run on Windows and will allow users to access their digital library of games from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, GoG, Steam and other PC storefronts.
Both the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will let users choose to download and play games natively, stream them via the cloud, or remotely access their games from their Xbox. Set apart from the regular ROG Ally range, the Xbox Ally features a dedicated Xbox button to bring up the Game Bar overlay to switch between games and apps. The handpiece is also inspired by the Xbox controller, with contoured grips and a button layout that resembles the Xbox controller.
The ROG Xbox Ally is designed to target a broad audience, whereas the ROG Xbox Ally X is intended for those seeking a high-performance experience. The specs for each handheld are as follows:
