After an unhealthy wait, fans of the fast-and-quilled can rejoice that the long desired trailer for the third Sonic The Hedgehog film has finally dropped.
And oh boy, was it worth the wait. Or, weight in the case of Dr. Robotnik.
With a massive showcase on Shadow the Hedgehog, both in terms of his powers and his backstory — the trailer doesn’t pull any punches in showing that things are going to get WILD. Shadow dispatches Sonic and crew so handily, that their only option is a worrying one: Teaming up with Dr. Robotnik himself.
The action sequences are like a fever dream, with Shadow even riding his crazy motorcycle up the side of a building before the giant showdown has Sonic and Shadow shooting towards each other like coloured meteors. And at the very end, a fun little giggle with Jim Carrey pulling double duty as Robotnik’s grandfather, Gerald.
Bring on December 20 – and the triumphant return of Hedgehogs to the cinema.
