LEGO has revealed the long-rumoured Sonic the Hedgehog expanded range, with four amazing play-oriented sets that are packed to the gills with action.
Previously Sonic had made appearances in the LEGO Dimensions sets, and his own dedicated LEGO Ideas display piece – but these are fully featured scenes with a proper focus on playability:

The main feature is a spin-dash gimmick in the form of Sonic’s Speed Sphere, which can be launched for high velocity stunt action – both around an iconic loop the loop and through a giant GOAL ring!
It’s also awesome to see an expanded range of the Sonic pals, but the lack of Knuckles (and Shadow, I guess) is either a portent of more to come; or a disappointing sign of disrespect to the echidna.
All the sets are live right now on the LEGO website for kids to start pestering parental figures worldwide:

The LEGO website for the sets describes them as such:
“Fast action fun meets creative play with LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog™ playsets. Fans of the Blue Blur can create scenes inspired by favourite Sonic adventures. When it’s time for a change of pace, kids can enjoy imaginative play caring for Sonic’s animal friends.”
All these sets will be available once August 1st, 2023 rolls around – so plenty of time to maybe squirrel them away for a great Christmas surprise.
