Ubisoft has announced that Massive Entertainment, the studio behind the first two Tom Clancy’s The Division games, will be leading development on the next entry in the series.
Julian Gerighty, currently the creative director on Star Wars Outlaws, has been appointed as executive producer for the entire The Division franchise – so one would assume that work on The Division 3 wont ramp up until Outlaws is closer to shipping.
Julian Gerighty has been appointed Executive Producer for the Tom Clancy’s The Division brand. Julian will oversee all games and products, including Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, led by Massive Entertainment who is actively building a team for the game.

In an Ubisoft news post, Gerighty shared that The Division has all the legs to be a longstanding franchise:
“We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect”
If any development on The Division 3 was underway, it would be minimal – Massive Entertainment’s current project is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, launching in December of this year. The game has yet to go gold, so a feverish effort to finish polishing up that rich alien world is likely well underway.
