Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 Has Officially Begun Development

But don’t expect it any time soon

Dropped as a very casual little tidbit this morning from Focus Entertainment, publisher behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has begun development.

That is essentially the entirety of the news – no other details are really there to be shared, just that “Yeah, Space Marine 3 will be a thing – because we have started.”

As hype-filled as this announcement is, people in the know of Game Development also realise that this is also the furthest-point we can be from actually playing Space Marine 3. At Saber Interactive, they may well be creating new folders in their file repositories titled SPACE MARINE 3 as step one. It’s not thrilling stuff.

But, it is thrilling to know that Titus’ tale will continue. Heck, his mug clearly appears in the image shared for the announcement – so that’s something at least.

Of course the response from many is akin to “AYOO WTF SPACE MARINE 2 STILL NEEDS ATTENTION”, given that the game is less than 12 months old and still enjoying a very hearty community of players. Sure enough, the social media team for Focus is all too happy to address those concerns and let people know that:

  1. Space Marine 3 is years away
  2. Space Marine 2 is still going to be getting fresh content during those years

So, that’s nice.

So that is about the extent of the news. To recap:

  1. Space Marine 2 is still getting updates
  2. Space Marine 3 is going to be a thing
  3. Space Marine 3 is ages away

Tidy. Simple. Just the way the Emperor likes it.

What do you want to see in Space Marine 3? Any particular Warhammer 40k baddies you’d like to see up close? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
