World of Warcraft Patch 9.1 Brings Chains of Domination, And A Bit Of A Hiccup With The Great Vault

The first major content patch for Shadowlands brings New Covenant Chapters, Dungeons and …a fairly gross bug.

Retail WoW Players have been long anticipating Chains of Domination, and it is finally here!

Featuring the next chapter in the Shadowlands story, players can step foot into new questing areas and further explore the narrative of their Covenant choices. Not convinced? Here are the crib notes of all that will be available as the patch fully unfurls itself over the coming weeks:

  • New Zone – Korthia, the City of Secrets
  • 10 boss raid – the Sanctum of Domination
  • 8 boss Megadungeon – Tazavesh, the Veiled Market
  • New World Boss: Mor’geth, Tormentor of the Damned in Korthia, the City of Secrets
  • Additional Torghast content, systems, and rewards
  • New Mythic+ Season, with a new affix – Tormented
  • New PvP Season with Adaptable Gear and new rewards
  • New Covenant campaigns
  • 40 more levels of Renown
  • Unlock Flying
  • New pets, mounts, toys, transmog sets, and secrets

However there was a small speed bump – once the patch was live, players received word from Blizzard that maybe they should refrain from opening their Great Vault (a weekly loot bonanza for all active players) as an issue had been identified:

Considering that players put a great deal of effort into ensuring their Great Vault offers the best range of items they can muster, any kind of undesired interference can be a huge bummer. Thankfully the issue was identified quickly, and in the meantime many adventurers within the Shadowlands could see what else Chains of Domination had to offer – such as the new questing area Korthia:

There is also a plethora of story content for players to experience, as the general threat of resident bad guy THE JAILER goes up a few notches. Just check out the release trailer for a taste of how things are heating up in the realm of death:

Ol’ mate has some pretty impressive problem solving strats – since the bloke can’t leave his domain, he instead decides to bring other continents to his home. Basically Uber Eats, but for a landmass.

As the power of the Maw continues to grow, the Jailer sets his eye on the ancient city of Korthia in search of long-lost secrets that could bring ruin to the Shadowlands. Now you and the covenants must unite against the darkness… or all of the realms of the Shadowlands will fall.

While I am currently deep in the thrall of The Burning Crusade Classic, I am still keen to enjoy these narrative elements – albeit at my own pace, and once I can trust the great vault will be paying out the good stuff.

Chains of Domination is now live. For more information, seek out details at worldofwarcraft.com.
