Xbox Confirms That Four First-Party Games Are Heading To Other Consoles; Briefly Mentions New Hardware

Cheers Phil

Xbox has confirmed that four first-party games will be heading to other consoles in the near future.

Responding to a deluge of rumours and reports, CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer, President of Xbox Sarah Bond, and Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty took to the Official Xbox Podcast to share an update on the future of Xbox. At the core of the 22-minute podcast was the announcement that four games from Xbox’s first-party portfolio will be releasing on other consoles soon. Spencer refused to outright name the titles but proceeded to drop hints that steer us to four very specific games. He did, however, strongly confirm that the games will not be Starfield or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

According to Phil, and the writer up on Xbox Wire, all four games have been on the Xbox platform for over a year, with two of them being “hidden gems that deserve to be experienced more widely,” and the other two being “live service games whose communities will benefit from welcoming even more players.” If we do some expert sleuthing, these hints lean towards the rumoured Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment being three of the four, with Grounded likely to be the second live-service title.

The entire podcast is very… self-serving, let’s say, but if you’re keen to give it a watch, you can do so here:

When discussing the future of Xbox concerning hardware, Sarah Bond flippantly mentioned that “there’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. And we’re also invested in the next generation roadmap.” This is vague, of course, but it would be reasonably safe to assume that this hints at the Xbox Series X mid-generation refresh that was outed during the FTC leak from last year.
