People Are Buzzing About A Possible Gears Of War Reveal At Xbox Showcase

The big summer showcase may have a surprise in store

Via a piece from The Verge, Senior Editor Tom Warren not only discusses the departure of key Xbox executive Kareem Choudhry – but the upcoming summer Xbox Showcase.

Apparently taking place on June 9th, this event is going to show off some of the huge upcoming titles coming to Microsoft’s hardware – with the big surprise being a new Gears of War game reveal at the show.

Gears 5 hit shelves all the way back in September 10, 2019 – so fans would absolutely be ready for a new full fledged sequel.

Other known titles that are rumoured to receive new information (such as release dates) include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Of course there is also a Call of Duty title waiting in the wings for a release this year, so the Xbox showcase may start the marketing sizzle for whatever chapter is next in that franchise.

Besides the obvious, there are still plenty of rumours and insider comments mentioning a Master Chief Collection style re-release of the original Gears of War games – bundling the premier storyline of the games and freeing them from dated hardware. Those details have been swirling the web for a long while with nothing truly concrete materialising.

By any metric, it puts a great deal of pressure on the Xbox Showcase for the sake of meeting expectations – Gears fans may well end up disappointed.

Are you a Gears of War fan ready for a new entry? What about an oldschool player that wants to re-live the glory of those Xbox 360 titles with all the modern trimmings? Let us know in the comments or on social media.

Shoutouts to The Verge.
