Developer IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light has been delayed and will now release on May 27, 2026.
Capping off a huge PlayStation State of Play showcase dedicated entirely to the upcoming James Bond title, First Light was saddled with a March 27 release date, positioning it as one of the biggest games to launch in the first quarter of 2026. The showcase detailed the stealth mechanics, action setpieces, smooth-talking dialogue options, and car chases that players could look forward to when the spy action game is in their hands. As it turns out, though, those eager to down a martini will need to wait a bit longer.
As detailed by a statement posted to IO Interactive’s socials, 007 First Light will need a bit more time in the oven to work out some little kinks before we suit up and swagger our way through garden parties and casinos. The announcement states that the delay into May will “allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch.” The statement confirms that the game is playable from front to back, making it very clear that the additional development time is being dedicated to tightening the experience, not finishing it.

The big, blowout State of Play wasn’t the last time we’ve seen First Light, though. While Bond himself didn’t make an appearance at The Game Awards, the one and only Lenny Kravitz did, revealing that the musician and certified smoothest man alive would be portraying First Light’s villain, Bawma.
Are you patiently awaiting First Light? What are your thoughts on Lemnny Kravcitz playing Bawma? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
