SteelSeries, proprietor of top-quality gaming gear from headsets to mice, has announced its acquisition of KontrolFreek, proprietor of those little plastic hats that got on your controller thumbsticks to make you feel more skilled at Call of Duty.
In a blog post on its website, SteelSeries welcomes its new family member as well as the four million-strong Freek Nation community. In the post, the company describes its reasons for acquiring KontrolFreek:
“KontrolFreek’s expertise in performance controller accessories aligns perfectly with our vision of products for any gamers that use controllers. The talented KontrolFreek team will greatly accelerate this vision for our controller and accessory business.
This acquistion helps us to further improve and expand our premium offerings to gamers. We’re so excited to welcome KontrolFreek to the family, and look forward to our future of improving the gaming experience together.”
The company also recently acquired 3D audio developers A-Volute in April 2020.
It’s looking like big things are coming for SteelSeries in 2021 and beyond, and as big fans of their gear here at WellPlayed we couldn’t be more excited to see what the future brings.
