Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s New Story Trailer Sets The Stage For A Darker Journey For Cal Kestis

I’m getting Empire Strikes Back vibes

EA and Respawn Entertainment have released a story trailer for the upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The nearly two-minute trailer picks up five years after Jedi: Fallen Order, with protagonist Cal Kestis back on the run from the Empire. The voiceover alludes to Cal having tried and failed to fight back against the Empire during those five years, with the young Jedi now on the hunt for a sanctuary that’s out of the tyrannical regime’s grasp.

During the trailer, we see numerous friendly faces like the wise-cracking pilot Greez and close companion Merrin, who looks to have grown stronger with the force and taken up a staff as a weapon. The short burst of gameplay in the trailer also depicts team-up moves between Cal and his companion, such as a Merrin and an unidentified blast-wielding badarse.

We loved Fallen Order, saying in our review that, “Thoughtful, challenging combat, plenty of variation in all facets and a narrative that hits the mark, this is the singleplayer Star Wars experience that many of us have been waiting for.” We gave Fallen Order a 9.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on April 28.
