Respawn has announced the Gaiden limited-time Event for Apex Legends, running from July 19 until August 2.
Gaiden will see the return of the Armed and Dangerous mode, where all players are restricted to shotguns and sniper rifles only. This obviously forces battles to take place up close and personal, or at long-range, creating an interesting dynamic to matches. The limited-time mode will run for the length of the event and will rotate between World’s Edge, Olympus, and Storm Point.
Like most events, Gaiden will feature two challenge trackers, allowing players to complete objectives during matches to unlock free rewards. This time around, an Epic Fuse skin, an Epic 30-30 skin, a holo spray, an event-specific Apex Pack and more can be unlocked, so don’t sleep on those challenges.
Most importantly for this event, 40 new anime-inspired skins are up for grabs within Gaiden Event Packs. These event-specific Apex Packs will give you a random item from the 40 available, including a One Piece-inspired Octane skin, a Naruto-inspired Wattson skin and a Neon Genesis Evangelion-inspired Revenant skin. If you’re not too hot on getting a random item, you’ll also be able to craft the Gaiden cosmetics using crafting materials.
In saying that, those who collect all 40 items in the event will also unlock the new Bangalore Prestige skin. Replacing the usual Heirloom in this event, the Apex Commander Prestige skin has three different looks that can be unlocked by completing challenges. Once earned, you’ll be able to switch between the three variants whenever you like.
