Developer Embark Studios has released a gameplay reveal trailer for its upcoming multiplayer extraction shooter, Arc Raiders.
Originally revealed as a free-to-play co-op shooter in the dying days of 2021, Arc Raiders has evolved over the years to be a premium PvPvE extraction adventure. Embark has hosted several test sessions over the years, the most recent taking place in October of this year, and this new footage comes directly from that.
The six-minute gameplay trailer introduces us to the game’s post-apocalyptic world. Raiders are tasked with leaving the underground city of Speranza to explore and scavenge supplies from the surface, which is teeming with dangerous Arc machines. We see a squad of three Raiders arrive on the surface, picking up items as they make their way towards a desolate city, when a red flare is shot into the air, which the narrator explains to be an indication that a rival Raider has been downed.
We see the game’s verticality, with the squad making their way over rooftops and through darkened buildings before firing upon smaller Arc machines and, eventually, engaging in a firefight with an enemy group. We briefly see an attempt to work alongside another team, using in-game emotes to convey intentions, but it goes about as well as it usually does. The gunplay looks reasonably tight, and the world and character designs are cool, but the graphical fidelity and sound design really shine in this brief clip.

The end of the trailer hints at the larger Arc threats and various biomes and times of day that will appear in the game, but we’ll have to wait to see more. If pushed, I would compare what we see here to a faster sci-fi take on Escape from Tarkov, but it’s still too early to know if that’s a fair comparison.
Arc Raiders is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.
