Aspyr Cancels Knights Of The Old Republic II Restored Content Plans

Fear leads to anger…

Developer Aspyr Media has taken to Twitter today to announce that its plans to bring restored content to the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords Nintendo Switch port of the game have been cancelled. The port, which brought the infamously unfinished 2004 game to the Switch in July 2022, was initially planned to receive DLC that would restore the content originally cut from the game and allow players the chance to play a finished version of the Star Wars story.

Aspyr has now announced that this plan is longer moving forward, but has failed to provide a reason as to why. In the Tweet, which you can see below, the company thanks players for their passion and support of the series but “sadly” announces that no further content will be released. Additionally, Aspyr is offering game codes for several of its previous Star Wars ports as an apology – a move that is at least somewhat addressing the financial investment some players may have made in the recent Switch port on the promise of receiving the additional content in the future.

This isn’t the first time Aspyr has been in the news regarding its Star Wars development troubles. The team has been at the helm of several successful ports of classic Star Wars games and was initially tapped to develop a full-blown remake of the lauded Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. However, in 2022 reports emerged that development had hit significant roadblocks and that the remake would be moved to another developer entirely, Saber Interactive.
