Ubisoft has fully revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage during this morning’s Ubisoft Forward livestream, providing significant details on the next instalment of the Assassin’s Creed series.
Set to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in 2023, Mirage is set in Baghdad during the ninth century and will have players assuming the role of Basim Ibn Is’haq, a supporting character introduced during Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
As leaks have suggested, Mirages’ gameplay will focus on parkour, stealth and assassinations and is described as a “modernisation of legacy gameplay.” Ultimately, this means that Mirage will be a more linear, narrative-driven experience, similar to the early Assassin Creed games before they veered into the RPG genre with Origins. There will be four districts of Baghdad to explore, with recognisable events and historical figures appearing during the story.
Mirage will follow Basim before the events of Valhalla as he transitions from a thief to a member of the Hidden Ones (Assassin Order). Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo, will act as Basim’s mentor, guiding him through this turbulent time in his life.
As you would expect, the full reveal came with a snazzy cinematic trailer that introduces us to the setting and characters of Mirage. From familiar tenants being spoken to sneaky assassinations, the trailer definitely gives off old-school AC vibes, and I’m here for that.
