Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Releasing A Month Early On PC; PS5 Version Gets A Tiny Delay

PC wins the skill check

Developer Larian Studios has announced that the PC release date of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be moving up to August 3, while the PS5 version has been delayed until September 6.

Originally slated to come out of early access on August 31, the PC release of the hotly anticipated RPG has been brought forward by almost a month thanks to that version of the game being ready to go sooner. While the release schedule is being dealt with “in order of platform readiness,” the fact that Starfield drops on September 6 likely has a part to play in this as well, with Larian’s blog post even mentioning that the game will be “released at a time where you’ll have more time to play it.”

As for the PS5 version, the short delay is down to making sure that each platform release is as complete and functional as possible. “We’ve also aimed for the highest possible quality on every platform we’ve released on. We’re at a point where we’re reaching 60fps on PlayStation 5, which is remarkable considering the breadth and depth Baldur’s Gate 3 aims for.” This week-long delay does slide the PS5 release into Starfield territory, but, hey, that game isn’t launching on PlayStation hardware.
