EA and DICE have announced that Battlefield 2042 will be getting a “scoreboard refresh” as part of update 3.3 in late February.
Outlined on the Battlefield DirectCommunication Twitter account, the revised scoreboard will finally show individual players’ stats during a game, including kills, assists and overall score. Seemingly attempting to eliminate toxicity within the player base, 2042’s current scoreboard focuses solely on your own squad’s stats without showing any information regarding the rest of the lobby.
Admirable as that may be, Battlefield fans have been very vocal in their displeasure with the existing scoreboard, prompting DICE to make the change in next month’s update. The refreshed scoreboard does feature all of the information that player’s have been craving, but the design definitely needs some more time in the oven.

Keeping in mind that this isn’t the final version, the work in progress image included in the Tweet shows all player information mixed in together instead of the tried and true method of splitting the scoreboard in two (one team per scoreboard). The match overview and player info on the left of the screen are clean, but here’s hoping that the final version tidies the rest up a bit.
Update 3.3 will also improve game performance, tweak XP distribution in Portal and fine-tune matchmaking in All-Out Warfare.
Ditching the single-player campaign and doubling down on multiplayer was a divisive decision, but 2042 has the potential to be an excellent entry (we gave it an 8), but it undeniably needs some attention.
