Battlefield Studios has unveiled a new multiplayer map for Battlefield 6, called Contaminated, which will appear in Season Two of the game’s post-launch content.
While Battlefield 6 Season One was originally scheduled to have wrapped up by now, Battlefield Studios announced an extension of Season One and a delay of Season Two until February 17. Fundamentally, this delay to the post-launch roadmap allows the studios to address feedback and roll out changes, and it also lets those of us who needed some extra time to finish off the battle pass do just that.
With Season Two inching closer and closer, Battlefield Studios has given us our first look at one of the maps we can expect from the next content drop, alongside some basic details on what we can expect from the new battleground. According to the announcement post, Contaminated will be a large-scale map, sitting between Eastwood and Mirak Valley in size. The post also hints that the map is similar in ways to St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 and Arras from Battlefield V, which point to open ground where tanks can cause havoc, combined with close-quarters encampments, townships, or, as the image suggests, underground bunkers.

The new map is currently being run through the Battlefield Labs testing process, alongside the beloved AH-6 Little Bird helicopter, which will make plenty of people very happy as I sit here and cry over my inevitable deaths, raining from the sky. The last tidbit from this announcement is the preliminary testing of a Battlefield 4 map that will return in a future season. While it’s not as groundbreaking as Operation Metro would be, we can look forward to returning to the railway hell that is Golmud.
While it’s not my personal cup of tea, it was confirmed that testing for solo queuing in the battle royale mode is also underway, though no exact timeline for when we can expect that to roll out has been provided at this stage.
