Pete Hines, the Head of Publishing for Bethesda Softworks, has today announced his retirement following 24 years with the gaming giant.
The announcement came in the form of a statement by Hines on his X account, where he explained that “This was not a decision I came to easily or quickly, but after an amazing career, culminating in the incredible launch of Stafield, it feels like the time is right.” Having been with Bethesda since 1999 and being an integral part of the company’s public relations for the majority of that time, I’d say he’s just about earned a cup of coffee and a sit down.

Bethesda, of course, also weighed in on the news, posting a statement thanking him for his tenure and wishing him the best in his retirement. The statement reads “We’re thankful for his 24 years of leadership and wish him the best in this next chapter.” We haven’t got a clue who will replace Hines in the role that he semi-recently moved into, but the man only just made the announcement, so let’s give it a minute before we talk successors.
