Non-profit organisation CheckPoint has revamped its website, and with that, the site is now packed with a load of new features that make it the perfect space for all to learn about mental health.
On top of this, their new community, GamerMates, makes it super easy to find like-minded people so that you can play your favourite video games together. You can find some new local friends, or even someone from the other side of the world, the choice is yours.
The introduced membership system (starting at the low price of free), will give users access to a pro-mental health gaming community, achievements and badges, online courses, giveaways, meet-ups, and all of the mental health education and resources you’ll ever need.
For those unaware of what CheckPoint is, as stated previously, it is a non-profit organisation based in Australia and New Zealand that acts to connect mental health resources with video games and technology.
The organisation is run by mental health and games industry professionals and exists to provide consultancy, advocacy, recreational activities, and free resources.
Tegan began gaming with her father when they would play Street Fighter together on her Nan’s PlayStation. Since then she has fallen in love with indie games, AAA games (I’m looking at you Tekken) and everything in between. Starting off as a console player, and more specifically an Xbox player, Tegan has now recently begun her new gaming ventures on PC. You can find her playing dating sims on Steam @carrotphernelia if you so wish.
