Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Gameplay Trailer Confirms That The Adaptation Will Be Horny And Gory

Leather, latex, and lesions

Developer Sabre Interactive recently dropped a gameplay reveal trailer for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, and it lives up to the excess of the film series.

Revealed back in July, Hellraiser: Revival is a first-person survival horror title set within Clive Barker’s body horror franchise. While the game’s store pages hinted at gameplay, this new gameplay trailer fully pulls back the curtains, showing us a minute of gameplay snippets from throughout the game’s campaign. Fans of the film series know that Hellraiser is known for visceral gore and overt sexual overtones, and this trailer brings both to the table.

Pinhead and his Cenobite pals are seen at various stages throughout the trailer, flanked by enough blood-soaked, leather-bound baddies to tear a soul apart. We see melee combat, firearms, puzzle-solving, and so so much blood and violence that it’s making me think we’ve got a true video game adaptation on our hands here. Admittedly, the sequels got a little out of hand, but the original from 1987 prioritised nasty imagery and uncomfortable acts of sex and violence to instil fear, which looks to be what Revival is going for as well.
